Scoot correction…

On a previous post we said that we would be the only company to get business from the website scoot. I quick correction is due. We’ve just looked at the stats and actually scoot has never never never never never transferred any visitors to our website since our records began in 2007. We had a visitor via scoot last week (it was me checking it worked), apart from that it has never pushed any visitor to us. We stopped advertising in yell.com a few years ago because they were sending us 2 visitors per month and charging us a fortune. I didn’t think I could find a worse directory but I have. Scoot isn’t even worth the free listing because having a link to our website on a poor performing website can damage the credibility within search engines such as google which could lead to  a lower listing for us. To this extent I have now asked scoot to remove my free listing.

I’ve have also now removed the original posting on scoot as it gave them an unnecessary link to their website.

UPDATED….

Scoot will only allow me to remove my listing via my logon page. I can’t remember my password and the password reminder function sends me an email with a new password but is unable to tell me what my new password is. So disappointing Scoot!

balloon decorations online

We’ve just completed going through the results of an extensive survey asking all our online balloon decoration customers from the last 2 years why they purchased from important occasions online. The main reason was because they were able to see a picture of what they wanted or they didn’t know what they wanted and the pictures gave them some ideas and inspiration to what they needed. After seeing what we could do, they then purchased online.

We can now display 5 different pictures per product on our online shop as well as inserting video clips with our new video player. The results of this survey mean we will be adding hundreds of more photos to our extensive online shop over the next few months.

Top 25 viewed pages on Monday (Amazingly 106 people made it to the shopping cart (checkout) to buy something - however only around  10% of those people end up as actual orders. 179 people were looking for personalised balloons - but only 2-3 % of that figure results in a purchase). 134 people were looking for  balloon decorations - but less than 1% ends up as a purchase as most people fall outside our service area of Coventry / Birmingham / Leicester. The Personalised ribbon has a small number of people viewing it ( Monday had 24) however the conversion rate is over 5%.

Sunday, change of plan.

I originally had today booked off as a holiday to do some DIY; didn’t quite work out as planned as Fridays balloon printing ran over until today due to a couple of last minute bookings (school prom balloon decoration work in Birmingham city centre and the Hagley Road). Saturday was a busy non-stop balloon decoration day. Just when I thought I was on-top of the balloon printing I’ve got 7 online orders taken today (usually Sundays take 1 -2 orders max).  I’m always keen to find out who else can offer next day service small print-runs on balloon printing using 11″ sempertex balloons just in case we get bombarded with 7 orders a day for  7 days in a row, then I could throw a bit of business your way. Contact us via the email page with trade prices. (the fast turn-around time is essential as most of the customers are now expecting next day delivery nowadays & I already have a small number of people who can offer me a 5 - 10 day turn around for outsourcing). Most of the work is 25 or 50 balloon runs but the odd 200+ thrown  in. The bulk of the orders come in on Monday evening and we always get asked on a Wednesday to supply and deliver work before the weekend.

Busy Tuesday

More visitors on Tuesday compared to Monday this week…. now there’s a first ever.

Just from Tuesday… the keywords typed into google are listed below and as most days “personalised balloons” is the most popular keyword typed into google to find our website - COOL!. Contained within the keyword list below there is a search for “48 hour balloon printing“. This shows that people do want fast turn around times on the balloon printing and as a business we need to try to accommodate the customers requests. We did get a phone call yesterday (& I’m presuming it’s the same customer who typed the phrase 48 hour balloon printing into google) to get a few hundred balloons printed and delivered for Friday - but unfortunately we were unable to fit in this order as we are already booked up for print jobs for the next few days working non-stop throughout the day and evening. Wedding and party season has truly kicked in with a huge surge in online orders and the online chat program still being clicked passed 11pm asking us if we can fulfil orders this weekend. Our online sales for the first week in July are £100 short of the total sales for July and August 2009. This has been attributed to a number of factors including a easier way to buy online, a regular customer base, Wedding planners now regularly purchasing from us, more incentives to buy online rather than over the phone, increased awareness on the internet, more service coverage area, more services, a simple straight forward website, being able to buy packages rather than individual balloon decorations, less competition in the area from party shops and no-one else locally offering to sell services online despite a massive increase in people buying online for the 14th year in a row. The amount of people buying online between 8pm and 4am is a business opportunity we simply cannot ignore  with customers now regularly clicking on the online chat button situated on every page of each product description. Having a blackberry phone linked to our online chat facility enable us to communicate with customers throughout the evening. Once customers see instant communication to their computer screen they get satisfaction that the website is genuine, their questions answered and usually ending up purchasing within minutes of concluding the online chat.

The huge growth we have seen in buying balloon decorations and balloon printing online has led us to scale down other parts of the business and focus 90% of our work now on balloon work.

Who visits our website ?

The Website hit a new high last Monday with more than 800 visitors in one day. Our best ever. This included a customer who typed the words “personalised balloons Manchester” into google. We came up 6th in the listed results and the only website that could take a personalised balloon order on the internet in the top 10 listed pages.  With this in mind, we thought we list the top 500 places that have visited this website over the last 3 months together with the amount of visitors from each places. declined credit cards

I was unable to fulfil an order today as my customer kept getting a decline when using their credit card on our website. Our website uses paypal for business to authorise payment & I have no control or knowledge to why a card would be refused. If the card fails we can take payment over the phone - but as we use paypal terminal systems over the phone, more than likely it will fail again. I can only suggest contacting your bank to find out why you payment system does not work with paypal for business.
